For Loved Ones
Alcohol, drugs and gambling addiction is a family disease. Around every person living with an addiction, there are approximately 10 close individuals who, in many cases, suffer more than the person with the addiction.
If you are a relative of an alcoholic, drug addict or someone with a gambling addiction, you also need support to find the quality of life that is important to you.
Many loved ones develop patterns of codependency, often without even realizing it. This can show up as:
- taking on emotional responsibility for others
- feeling a strong need to rescue or fix those around you
- becoming overly dependent on a partner
- fear of abandonment
- a strong need for control
- easily adapting to others' emotions while neglecting your own
- difficulty identifying and expressing your own feelings
- struggling to set and maintain healthy boundaries
Our work together will focus on:
- guilt, shame, self-esteem, grief, control, anger
- finding strategies so so you can begin to prioritize yourself
- gaining insight into the nature of addiction, and understanding that you are not responsible for it or its consequences
You don't have to carry everything on your own. Change often begins with small steps - and with a new awareness of yourself and your situation. There is the possibility of a life with more balance, joy, and inner calm.
